ROMANIA - Piatra Craiului National Park

Today ( for 3 hours ) I went in Piatra Craiului National Park
known as the cavers’ paradise - in Zarnesti near Brasov.
Zărnești is a town in Braşov County, Transylvania
It is located near the Piatra Craiului Mountains, which are part of the Southern Carpathians mountains range. Its close proximity to the Piatra Craiului make it a common start point for tourists and hikers wishing to explore "The Piatra Craiului National Park".

Kavala , GREECE - Summer thoughts

Kavala has always been an important port on the Balkan Peninsula.

Neapolis - Christoupolis - Kavala are its historical names.
It has been inhabited since the Neolithic age.

In the 7th century BC it was a Thassian colony called Neapolis and later it joined the Athenian Alliance.
It gains great prosperity during the Macedonian rule, after Philip II has annexed it, its harbor serving Filippi. The Romans upgraded the major commercial port by having Via Egnatia run through it but at the same time it was made the target of Goth and Hun raids.
Apostle Paul comes to Neapoli to preach the Christian faith in Europe.
Byzantine times, when the town was given the name "Christoupolis" as a prosperous period; however, Normand ravages and Turkish occupation put an abrupt end to it.The important monuments of the old aqueduct, nowadays known as Kamares, dates from that period.

From one arched gate to the other, centuries put on a new face.

Forgotten Roads - Tabla Buţii

 Don't come after

Ask the mountains

 Why couldn't this go on?

 Couldn't our happiness go on?

Ask the sun that lightens up the sky

Ask the mountains

Ask the green in the woods and the trees

Ask the mountains

 Why couldn't this go on?

Couldn't our happiness go on?

 Ask the mountains

Wild woods, highlands

 Don't come after

 Please don't follow me along

When you read this I'll be gone

Tabla Buţii is a "pass" - an alpine passage at the height of 1340m, in the Curvature Carpathians.
The link through this thoroughfare was always made between the Southern Carpathians towards Muntenia and the interior bend of the Carpathians's curvature to the North - West through Ţara Bârsei with Transylvania.
This pathway is easily accessible thanks to the landscape - not very hilly, being the shortest way between Transylvania towards the Occident and the Danube's exits to the Black Sea, towards Levant.
Tabla Buţii spot is the summit, the peak between the Valley of the Teleajen that rises from Muntenia and the origins of Buzău in the Ciucaş Massif towards Transylvania.
The name of Tabla Buţii comes from the printed "tables" - applied in the past on the barrells filled with merchandise during customs, because there was a custom between Ţara Românească and Transylvania.
